  • How many of us find ourselves wishing that our children came with a 'manual'. Something that said, Sarah really likes to have her alone time, or Tommy can get very anxious alone and prefers to play lego next to where you're working. And when they are picking sports or activities, that Aaron tends towards team sports like soccer, or prefers more individual activities such as robotics club or tennis or swimming or archery.

But if we had such a Manual, would it influence us to be deterministic about personalities and hamper the natural child from emerging? On the other hand, would it assist us as parents, to really understand that child and to help their real self emerge?

Will a chart interpretation impose a particular future on our child, or will it allow us as parents work with our child to face a particular challenge?

    .

Is there a 'right' age to do an astrology chart?

Is there an age that is too young to get an astrology chart interpretation? Should we wait for the individual child to start to show themself, before we cloud our mind with astrology information? On the other hand, would an early chart interpretation help to see the growing infant and child for who they are?

Such questions are individual, and different parents choose what suits them and their child.

    .

What kinds of things could shine out of an astrology chart about an individual child?

    * Alex is quiet and likely to find nothing more enticing than curling up with a book, or huddled with a sketch pad and pencil or colours. Alex might need extra support to join in group activities;

    * Terri enjoys scientific facts and is less likely to relate to the personal experiences and stories related to topics at school and in the world;

    * Finn is active and might enjoy doing physical activities multiple afternoons every week;

    * Gabriel has a clear inclination towards developments in technology, in a very individualistic way;

    * Millie can get quite caught up in her own thoughts, and help on how to sort through those thoughts will be helpful as she gets further into her schooling years;

    * Sammie has a flare for the dramatic, and sometimes mixes up what is fantasy and what is factual, and learns best when talking or acting out scenarios around the topic being studied.

Can anyone get a chart interpretation for any child?

For myself, I believe it would unethnical to let just anyone interpret a child's chart. A legal parent or guardian, definitely. That said, though, a teenager should have a say in if their chart is to be interpreted, and should have the opportunity to attend the interpretation, if they want to. Of course, plenty of teenagers, and even young adults, are interested in their chart interpretation, but would prefer their parent is the one at the session, and then they share quietly just the two of them later on.

    .

How to book a child's chart interpretation, or gift a chart interpretation to a parent?

  • In the skies right now Saturn and Neptune are very close together at 1 and 2 degrees, both in Aries. Have a look at your chart, do you have any planets or points between 0 and 3 degrees of Aries? And which House is that point?

Over the coming weeks, until mid-August, keep an eye open for insights into what you are being led to reconsider: what you could become more active about? Particularly issues that are not only about you, but for the benefit of the collective, or something that is more artistic or creative, more spiritual, and more uplifting and not as restrictive or solid.

A few hints might have already arisen in the last day or so, or could show themselves in the coming day or so: what restrictions or responsibilities have been bringing some tensions? Have some dreams or hopes been floating around? Are they delusions? Or are they goals to aim towards?

If you find yourself repeating unhelpful thoughts, or finding sleep hard to attain or that your sleep is broken, or if you are feeling particularly unsure or confused, this transit could provide the ability to see the reality, to lift away that fog of illusion or deception, to really understand your limits, and with that strong kick of Aries, to enable each of us to take positive action.

In mid-July, some unexpected or revolutionary ideas, and/or some deep and insightful contemplation could help. These come through helpful but unusual or unexpected communications (with Uranus at 0 degree Gemini), and insightful breakthroughs that could benefit the broader community (with Pluto at 2 degrees Aquarius).

These coming weeks until mid-August are a glimpse through the window of what action can be taken in February 2026 when Neptune and Saturn will meet exactly at 0 deg Aries.

Even if you have no planets or points in the early degrees of Aries, have a look in your chart to see which House do you have 0 degrees of Aries? What structures do you have in place to do with that House, do they need modifying? Or what delusions do you have related to that House, that need uncovering and giving a shot of reality? If you enjoy creativity and artistic forms, are you feeling inspired?

When I think of Aries, I find myself visualising the depiction given by Rick Riordan in his Percy Jackson books: we see an impulsive, self-absorbed, leather-jacket-wearing biker, who doesn’t hesitate, is self-assured and doesn’t flinch from being noticed.

One final word: a comparison of this Neptune-Saturn conjunction, to when Neptune and Saturn met the last time, 36 years ago, in 1989. That time, these two planets were at 11 degrees Capricorn, it was a far more physical (Capricornian) meeting, aptly visualised with the fall of the Berlin Wall, among other less concrete structures.

  • Starting now (within the next day) we are each being given an opportunity over the next 12 months or so, to build and develop our security, our sensitivity, our protection and/or our emotions within an existing area of our own life.

I find these types of helpful transits particularly fascinating, and I compare them to when there are transits that bring challenges. Think of the weather as an analogy, if it’s especially challenging weather, such as a particularly strong storm that damages houses, and sees trees falling, the challenge is there, it must be dealt with. Whereas, if there is beautiful weather, it is our choice if we take advantage of it, it’s up to us if we use that weather to perhaps go out and experience nature; or to get up on the roof and fix that problem with the gutter; or maybe to invite friends and family for a BBQ. Or we can continue as we have been and maybe glimpse the good weather through the window.

Happening now in the skies is Jupiter, the planet of expansion, enlarging, of exploring and learning more, of delving philosophically or spiritually more into our world; this planet is changing signs, and moving into Cancer, the sign of compassion, caring, kindness, nurture and emotion.

Grab your own astrology chart and look for the one axis (line) that has the symbol of Cancer (look for a symbol that looks like a side-ways “69”). Take note of the two Houses that are left and right of that Cancer-axis. For example, if you have Cancer on the axis between your 7th and 8th Houses. Whichever is the lower of the two numbers, Jupiter is that House now. (note if Cancer is between your 12th and 1st Houses, then Jupiter is now in your 12th House). When Jupiter moves across that axis and into the next House depends on the degrees, for example, if Cancer is at 2 degrees, then Jupiter will move into your next House within weeks, but if the axis for Cancer is at, say, 20 degrees, it will be May 2026 before Jupiter moves into your next House.

If you have a planet in Cancer in your chart, it is likely you will notice the Jupiter transit more strongly, and stronger again if you have multiple planets in Cancer. Let's consider when was the last time Jupiter was moving through Cancer: think back to the time from early July 2013 to early July 2014, and read the general notes below to prompt your mind of what area of life Jupiter in Cancer relates to for you, and consider how you might use the gift of Jupiter for the coming 12 months, how might you expand and develop this part of your life. Jupiter in Cancer is more about expanding on what you already have in this area of your life, rather than about making something new. For example, if someone has Cancer in their 9th House, they might put energy into current spiritual or study practices, it's less likely to be about starting a new field of study.

The follow are some prompts for the different areas of life that Jupiter in Cancer could be influencing now, it is in no way an exhaustive list, but can give some general ideas to consider:

    · If Jupiter in Cancer is now in your 1st House: How can you nurture yourself, especially your body? How can you develop your confidence and discover things about yourself?

    · Jupiter in Cancer is now in your 2nd House: How can you nourish what you already value, or indulge yourself more in the possessions that you already own? Or, how can you use your current skills to provide nourishment or caring in order to earn money? Alternatively, how can you build up your inner sense of self-worth and self-esteem?

    · Jupiter in Cancer is now in your 3rd House: In what ways can you increase your communication with those already held close to your heart? Can you write more, or chat more? Alternatively, could you focus on your own emotions, and write more in your journal?

    · Jupiter in Cancer is now in your 4th House: How do you like to nurture your home and your family? Cooking meals, adding touches to your decorations? Time in your garden?

    · Jupiter in Cancer is now in your 5th House: If you have children in your life, how can you connect with them more? In addition, how can you nurture your creative side, and in what ways can you bring joy to your life?

    · Jupiter in Cancer is now in your 6th House: How can you improve or increase how you feel safe and secure in your daily routine? This includes your daily work environment but also caring for your physical well-being in your diet and your regular exercise.

    · Jupiter in Cancer is now in your 7th House: How can your closest friendship or your partnership be cared for more? Your understanding of yourself and your beliefs can improve or expand through your relationships.

    · Jupiter in Cancer is now in your 8th House: How can you expand your time and care that you put into current joint projects, or into joint resources? How can help make your current joint resources grow?

    · Jupiter in Cancer is now in your 9th House: How can you develop your knowledge of the greater world, through caring and empathetic ways? Perhaps spiritual or religious involvement, travel or study?

    · Jupiter in Cancer is now in your 10th House: How can you care for, or make more secure, your current career?

    · Jupiter in Cancer is now in your 11th House: How can you connect more with your current friendship groups, in a caring way? Can your current group become more involved in a charity?

    · Jupiter in Cancer is now in your 12th House: How can you deepen your experiences of inner calm, perhaps through meditation or contemplative walks in nature, or otherwise?

What are the exact dates to take advantage of these caring and expansive opportunities? 10th June 2025 to 30th June 2026 (for Australian), or 9th June 2025 to 29th June 2026 (for Europe and USA).

Saturn and Neptune also recently changed signs bringing new energy into other areas of each of our charts, and Uranus is soon to change signs. I will write on these slower moving planets soon.

I watched the Full Moon earlier this week, it was an impressive sight sitting in the sky, as I drove towards it, hovering over the rise of the Mountains in front of me.

And some questions started stirring and rising within me. I am sharing them, as maybe some of these have been floating in your mind as well?

The Full Moon… Is it true that there is an energy around a Full Moon? Are we supposed to conjure up mental images of mythical creatures baying at the moon! I try not to let myself get caught up in such clichés, but my mind goes there automatically anyway!

Ok, for some more practical considerations.

If the Full Moon moves around the Earth once a month, does it come back around to the same Zodiac sign when it’s again the Full Moon in the following month? Or does the Earth rotating in its orbit, drag the Moon also around that orbit, and therefore to different Zodiac signs for the Full Moon each month? The later seems more logical.

And in that case: as there are 12 months in a year, and 12 Zodiac signs, is the Full Moon in a different Zodiac sign each month? And if so, does the Full Moon in say, January, every year, occur within the same Zodiac sign, year in and year out? Well that doesn’t seem correct as the number of days in each month differs, and the Moon’s Phases repeat every 29.5 days, so we definitely have some months when there is two Full Moons in the same month.

And that said, as most years there is only 28 days in February: how often could February end up with no Full Moon?

It’s at about this point that I went researching and constructed my own table, showing the Zodiac sign of the Full Moon for each month for the past couple of years, this year and next year. I did a survey of another few dozen calendar years checking the Zodiac sign of the Full Moon in January of each year, and it was almost always in Cancer, very occasionally in Leo.

So why is the Full Moon in January always Cancer or Leo? And the answer is that it’s not about January at all! It’s about the Sun sign. Why?

If we consider that in early to mid- January, the Sun sign is Capricorn, and to get a Full Moon, the Moon must be on the exact opposite side of the Earth, that is, if the Sun is in Capricorn, then the Moon is in the Zodiac sign opposite to Capricorn. Cancer.

So what energy is being created when the Full Moon is in any given Zodiac sign? Particularly given that at a Full Moon the Sun and the Moon are in opposite Zodiac signs, if one is an Earth sign (e.g. Capricorn), then the Moon is in a Water sign (e.g. Cancer). And does that mean that for those few days each month when we have a Full Moon are we being drawn away from which ever sign the Sun is in at that time? And re-balanced with the opposing energy?

As I am writing this the Sun is in Taurus, a sensually focused sign that favours pleasant food to eat, enjoyable music, soft furnishings and other comforts. Something I can fully appreciate having just eaten a tasty Autumn dinner with the heater going, when it’s 11 degrees Celsius outside. The Sun in Taurus brings an energy that is slow and methodical, it’s practical but also quite thorough. And the Full Moon earlier this week? Well, it was in deeply emotionally charged Scorpio, digging down into our triggering memories.

The next Full Moon occurs when the Sun is in the flighty and thought-flitting sign of Gemini. Whereas the Moon will be in the fire sign of Sagittarius, drawing us to get out of the maybes and the chatting about possible ideas, and to actual do.

The next Full Moon is on 11th June, at 20 degrees Sagittarius. Do you have any planets or points in your own chart that are right at 20 degrees Sagittarius? (19 degrees or 21 degrees can be considered as well). If so, then you will likely feel the Full Moon influencing your life far more than most other people. What House in your chart has 20 degrees Sagittarius? Depending on which House it will indicate which area of your life is likely to be influenced by the next Full Moon.

  • As promised, I am emailing about Neptune moving into Aries... this occurs later tonight (Sydney time)! Neptune will then stay in Aries until late October this year, where it will have a brief return to Pisces, until late January 2026. Those few months could be helpful to tie up any loose ends, if you have had some kind of a creative project you are wrapping up, or on the other hand, if there has been some kind of a deception that you have been sorting through.

Do you have planets in Pisces? If so, then over the past 12+ years, Neptune will have lit up those areas of your life. Similarly, if you have any planets in Virgo, Gemini or Sagittarius, then times in the past 12 years will have been affected by Neptune. If you have no points in your chart in any of those Signs, then Neptune might have moved seamlessly for you for over a decade.

What of Neptune moving into Aries? Whereas Pisces was somewhat wistful, Aries is hot-headed, it blasts forward without thinking things through first. Aries it is motivated, it wants to achieve. Whereas Pisces was backwards looking, and was reminiscing and sensitive, Aries is a conquer and feels empowered and emboldened by a good challenge.

Why is this change of Neptune into Aries interesting? Because it takes Neptune over 162 years to one orbit, so, you have never had Neptune moving through this part of your chart, or this part of your life before!

Where is Aries in your astrology chart? In particular, where is the very first degrees of Aries, so, 0, 1 and 2 degrees of Aries. Look where Pisces is and move towards Aries – you’ve found those first degrees!

I am talking about those early degrees of Aries simply because, it will be more than a year from now, before Neptune ventures past those early degrees in Aries. Look at what House in your chart that you have 0, 1 and 2 degrees of Aries: Aries might be spread over two Houses in your chart, but it might take some time before it moves further around your chart.

I have a few thoughts about the House position, which I will share. The following is by no means a comprehensive list of ideas on Neptune in Aries for the House position in your chart, but it might help you start connecting with the current movement of Neptune within your own chart:

Neptune in Aries moving through your 1st House: What creative thoughts do you have around your physical look? Do you want to change your hair or your clothes? Be aware that depending on how strong is your sense of self, Neptune moving into your 1st House can rock your sense of self, your autonomy and your clarity of boundaries from others. Be aware of you find yourself believing untruths that someone might be telling you about yourself.

Neptune in Aries moving through your 2nd House: What creative ideas do you have for earning money? Do you literally make craft items you can sell at the markets, or do you dance or sing and have an opportunity to hone those skills or to take your talent to the stage? If you are buying or selling valuables, be sure to check the details. If you are struggling with your self-esteem, then where can you find those that help to lift you up?

Neptune in Aries moving through your 3rd House: What are you doing with your creative, fluid and ingenious thoughts! Are you getting carried away with them, spiralling with Alice into the rabbit hole? Or are you utilising those thoughts by creatively engaging in writing, speaking, singing, painting, photographing? Those near you who speak fantastically, is their imagination for entertainment, or for deception?

Neptune in Aries moving through your 4th House: Let’s now look at your own home and family. Have you been wanting to experiment with the colours of your house, repaint it inside or out? To get into your garden and infuse it with those amazing colours you’ve seen on your walks? For some, Neptune might mean that some less than helpful patterns of behaviour, or interaction, within the family can now dissolve, and allow the opportunity to build new relationships.

Neptune in Aries moving through your 5th House: This could well be the time to start bringing those creative thoughts into actuality. Depending on where you are in life, perhaps you plant a rose garden as a romantic gesture, or you could feel inspired in working with children. Be cautious if a gamble seems too good to be true!

Neptune in Aries moving through your 6th House: Adding some easy moments to your daily routine could be wonderful! Take care though, if your health routines or your work routines become too lax, it might not bring quite the result you were hoping for.

Neptune in Aries moving through your 7th House: Have you and your partner been wanting to work on a creative endeavour together? Do you have clarity about what is real and what is imagined about your relationship with your partner?

Neptune in Aries moving through your 8th House: A joint financial enterprise could be creatively focused. Alternatively, be aware of the finer details if you are joining your finances with someone else, are there any murky or unseen details?

Neptune in Aries moving through your 9th House: With Neptune here, take the time to immerse yourself in the spiritual or cultural parts of your travel. You don’t have to get on a plane to travel, your journey might be in the pages of a book on the images and sounds from your computer. Take care to be question any beliefs or claims that you encounter, enjoying the experience doesn’t mean giving yourself naively into new idea or experiences.

Neptune in Aries moving through your 10th House: In what ways are you feeling inspired and impassioned about your career? Are you wanting to bring creativity into your career? On the other hand, do you need to be wary of anyone, or any situation, to do with your career?

Neptune in Aries moving through your 11th House: Do you belong to a group who are impassioned creatively in some way? Perhaps you knit pouches for animal rescue for joeys found on the side of the road, or you are involved in fundraising for a charity, or maybe you are preparing to participate in a group endeavour in replanting trees, or to build a play equipment in an overseas orphanage? Be mindful of the group’s undercurrents, their purpose, or if the aims are too fantastic to be realistic.

Neptune in Aries moving through your 12th House: Daydreams and fantasies may provide inspirational thoughts and images for you to bring into reality. Or perhaps you can engage in a type of meditation that helps you clear your mind. Be mindful if thoughts turn too much to imagining what might be true, or not true. Imagining is all well and good if it’s entertaining.

How do we know if Neptune is likely to work positively or to be a challenge for us? It’s about looking at the influences in this part of your chart, as well as looking at the influences on Neptune at the time of your birth. Neptune is likely to be more influential in the coming year or so, if you have anything situated in your birth chart in the early degrees of Aries, Libra, Cancer or Capricorn. If this is an area of your life that you want to explore more, you can book in for a closer look at that part of your birth chart, plus a year-ahead interpretation related to this and other parts of your chart.

  • February Full Moon in Leo

This could be especially relevant to you if you have any points (planets, or an angle, etc) at 23 or 24 degrees of Leo, also check if you have any points in your chart at 23 or 24 degrees of Scorpio, Taurus or Aquarius.

The Leo Full Moon brings courage to try new things, entertaining, dramatic, leading and inspiring.

This Full Moon is particularly interesting though, as surprising and original Uranus is at 90 degrees to the Sun-Moon. Uranus here can bring some unexpected change. You might find this disruptive or you might find it exciting. You might feel up to going with the flow, or you might be resistant. It could be a great opportunity for your originality and individual personality to come out.

Timing: on the east coast of Australia this is very early morning on 13th February, although the Moon leaves Leo at around mid-day.

For most other locations: 12th February.

I would love to hear about your experiences.

  • As we come to the end of 2024, some plans and actions might not be exactly where we had hoped they would be:.. What's going on with the stars?

    MARS RETROGRADE

Imagine you are driving your car forward, to be able to change into reverse, you cannot just put the engine immediately into reverse, you need to slow down, then stop, now you can move in reverse. This is what has been happening with the planet Mars recently. Mars usually takes 2.5 years to move through every point in the zodiac, and only about 8 or 10 weeks of that time, will see Mars appear to be moving backwards.Mars is a naturally highly-motivated and a forward-moving sort of planet, that aims to ‘get that job done’! If there’s a cause that needs fighting for, or a project that needs all energy and focus to make it happen, then Mars moving forward is your planet that can make it happen.

Have a look on your chart, do you have any planets between either 0 to 6 degrees Leo, or between 17 and 29 degrees Cancer? Or perhaps your Ascendant (or Descendant) or your MidHeaven (or IC) are at one of those points? If so, which House (or Houses) are you looking at?What does it mean that Mars is retrograde in a part of your chart? That actions, activities, projects to do with this part of your chart may have been moving forward and making progress, but now they are being slowed down, perhaps there is some paperwork or checks that need to be completed? Or maybe, you need to reconsider your plans, look at them in more detail, or you have more to learn, perhaps more training? Or perhaps there are some attitudes or opinions that you need to respond to in an appropriate way.

Mars can often get a bit heated, a bit hot under the colour, a bit defensive or overly vocal. It can be rash, and pushy. It doesn’t enjoy waiting or having to check the details. It’s not all that open to being told ‘no’ to a request. Furthermore, when Mars is in the sign of Cancer, we have the aggressive and charging energy of Mars, wading through emotions. It’s not an emotion that Mars enjoys, How are you coping with those obstacles in your path? Are you raging a war of words, or are you striking out in physical anger? Are you being assertive and managing your anger? Or are you pushing yourself forward, forcefully, regardless of the hints that you need to slow down, if not stop, the current progress?

Relevant dates: Mars Retrograde starts on 6th Dec 2024 in Leo, then on 6th Jan 2025 Mars continues backwards into Cancer, (Mars it stays in Cancer until mid-April 2025). On 23rd Feb 2025, Mars starts to move forward again, retracing steps it has already done, checking that this time all the plans are checked, the paperwork is in order, the road is clear.

    ..

Where is Mars in your chart? Is there a planet or point in your chart that Mars Retrograde is travelling across?

  • COMING UP: 4th NOVEMBER 2024

Are there any points in your chart at 29 degrees Cancer or 29 degrees Capricorn?

On 4th November 2024, Mars in Cancer will be in opposition to Pluto in Capricorn.

Lots of passionate and intense energy is looking for an outlet.

If you are consciously aware of this, you can choose to put your energy into something productive, or something creative.

Have a look which Houses you have Cancer and Capricorn to see which areas of life this energy is coming from.

  • COMING UP: 25th & 28th OCTOBER 2024

Some potentially supportive and active energy coming up, especially if you have any points in your chart at 26 degrees of Cancer or 26 degrees Taurus: on 25th October 2024, the motivated and driven forces of Mars are working together with electrifying and sudden Uranus.

    Then...

On 28th October, if you have any points in your chart at 27 degrees of Taurus or 27 degrees of Pisces: fabulous for some interesting, artistic, creative inspiration.

    WHAT TO LOOK FOR?

Look on your chart and see where you have Cancer (and Taurus and Pisces) for hints on which areas of your life you could find opportunities to put these energies to good use.
